How to question your science teacher
We have all been told that gravity is
coursed by the earth spinning at such a great rate that we are sucked down to
the earths surface, I was told by my year eight science teacher that if the
earth stopped spinning, we would all fly across the room at such a great rate
that we would simply splatter against the wall and die. I was also told and
have seen footage of men walking on the moon and they are floating because the
moon has less gravity than earth because it doesn't spin as fast
The formula for the surface speed of
the planet is, At the equator, the Earth's surface moves 40,000 kilometers in
24 hours. That is a speed of about 1040 miles/hr (1670 km/hr). This is
calculated by dividing the circumference of the Earth at the equator (about
24,900 miles or 40,070 km) by the number of hours in a day (24) this is the
scientific and mathematical equation
Yet we are actually spinning at the
same rate as the big hand on a twenty four hour clock, not very fast is it, if
we span any faster we would be like spokey dokeys on a childs bike and we would
be spun out into space, so what is gravity
Would the men walking on the moon
actually be floating about like that, or would they be walking on the surface,
the same as you and I do on the surface of the earth, if the moon spins slower
than the earth would that mean they would be floating and having giant leaps
for man kind, or would they be walking about normally, or would they be really
fast, as there is no air or resistance, if there is no gravity on the moon and
you hit a golf ball would it be brought back down to the surface or would it
launch into space
For rain to develop, the water
evaporates, the moisture in the air rises up into the atmosphere then cloud
mass is formed, this means that the surface area of the planet especially the
ocean decreases in mass and physical size, the water then accumulates into
larger and larger cloud mass and eventually falls back to earth, and the
physical mass of the earth is returned to its normal size, so even if it rained
for forty days and forty nights how can you explain that the world could flood,
how can the physical mass of the earth suddenly get bigger
